Angie Ghuman ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
"Hands down the best dental experience I've ever had. I've gone to a few different dentists due to moving, and Dr. Dhaliwal was the best one. Her hygienist, Elizabeth, was so gentle with the cleaning & I felt no pain during the cleaning with Dr. Dhaliwal. The office manager, Heidi, is also so welcoming. Definitely recommend coming here as the whole team is great!"
What is General Dentistry?
General dentistry is the foundation of your oral health. It focuses on diagnosing, treating, and managing your overall dental needs. A general dentist acts as your primary dental care provider. Instead of just fixing problems when they hurt, general dentistry focuses on preventative care to stop issues like tooth decay, gum disease, and bone loss before they start.
Key Benefits of Routine General Dental Care:
- Early Detection: Catching cavities and gum disease when they are small and easy (and inexpensive) to treat.
- Oral Cancer Screenings: Routine visual exams to spot early warning signs.
- Gum Health: Professional removal of plaque and tartar that brushing at home cannot reach.
- Restoring Function: Fixing chipped, broken, or missing teeth so you can chew, speak, and smile comfortably.
Top General Dentistry Services at 4th & Morris
We provide a complete array of preventative and restorative treatments under one roof, using modern technology for maximum comfort.
1. Preventative Care & Dental Cleanings
The American Dental Association (ADA) recommends visiting your dentist for a professional cleaning and exam every six months. We provide deep cleanings, tooth sealants to block decay, and digital X-rays to monitor your jaw and tooth health safely.
2. Tooth-Colored Fillings
If a cavity forms, we clean out the decay and restore the tooth using a durable, tooth-colored composite resin. Unlike old metal fillings, our composite blends perfectly with your natural enamel, stopping the decay while keeping your smile bright.
3. Dental Crowns
A dental crown is a custom-made, durable cap placed over a damaged, decayed, or recently repaired tooth (such as after a root canal). Crowns restore the tooth's shape, size, and strength. With proper care, our crowns can last a decade or more.

4. Tooth Extractions
We always strive to save your natural teeth. However, if a tooth is severely damaged, infected, or overcrowding your mouth (like wisdom teeth), an extraction may be necessary. Dr. Dhaliwal uses gentle techniques to remove the tooth safely, stopping the spread of infection and relieving your pain.
5. Dental Implants
If you have a missing tooth, a dental implant is the gold standard for replacement. We surgically place a small titanium fixture into the jawbone, which acts as a new root. We then attach a beautiful, functional artificial tooth on top. This prevents bone loss and permanently restores your bite.
A Note from Dr. Dhaliwal:
"Many patients put off their general dentistry visits because they are afraid of judgment or pain. Please know that at 4th & Morris, there is never any judgment—no matter how long it has been since your last visit. We use modern, gentle techniques to make sure you are completely numb and comfortable before we begin any restorative work. Your comfort is always my first priority."
Frequently Asked Questions About General Dentistry
How often should I see a general dentist in Renton?
For most patients, we recommend a routine checkup and professional cleaning every six months. However, if you are prone to cavities, have active gum disease, or are managing health conditions like diabetes, we may recommend visiting us every 3 to 4 months to keep your oral health on track.
Does getting a cavity filled hurt?
Not at all. Before we treat a cavity, we apply a topical numbing gel followed by a local anesthetic to completely numb the area. You may feel some slight pressure or vibration from our tools, but you should not feel any sharp pain during the filling process.
How do I know if I need an extraction or just a filling?
A filling is perfect for minor to moderate tooth decay. If the decay has reached the soft inner pulp of the tooth, a root canal and crown might be needed to save it. An extraction is a last resort—recommended only when the tooth is too structurally compromised to save, or if leaving it would threaten your surrounding teeth and jawbone.
